Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru 2018
The Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru 2018 from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is a wine of rare elegance, sourced from one of the most prestigious terroirs of Vosne-Romanée. The 2018 vintage, marked by exceptional ripeness, produces a Pinot Noir that is both deep and generous, yet remarkably refined.
The nose immediately charms with its complexity and delicacy. It reveals aromas of ripe cherry, raspberry and small red berries, complemented by floral notes of rose and violet, delicate spices and subtle hints of oak. With aeration, the bouquet gains in depth while retaining beautiful aromatic freshness.
On the palate, the wine is full and silky, with rich texture perfectly balanced by beautiful freshness. The tannins are fine, velvety and remarkably well integrated. Precise, deep fruit is complemented by spicy and subtly mineral nuances before extending into a long, elegant and persistent finish.
A highly distinguished Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru that perfectly illustrates the seductive character of this terroir: remarkable finesse and delicacy behind perfectly controlled depth and power. Still young, this great wine has outstanding ageing potential and will gradually develop even greater complexity over the years.
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, often referred to as DRC, is one of the most prestigious and sought-after wine estates in Burgundy. Based in Vosne-Romanée, the estate boasts an exceptional wine heritage of legendary Grands Crus, including Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Grands-Échezeaux, Échezeaux and Montrachet.
Romanée-Saint-Vivant is one of the great terroirs of Vosne-Romanée. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti cultivates approximately 5.29 hectares here, making it one of the estate’s most significant holdings. The vineyard benefits from a terroir particularly renowned for producing elegant, aromatic and highly refined Pinot Noir.
The 2018 vintage experienced a particularly warm and sunny growing season, following a wet spring with periods of mildew pressure. The water reserves accumulated during the winter and spring helped the vines better withstand the heat. The grapes ultimately reached remarkable ripeness, with very ripe, juicy and perfectly healthy berries. The Romanée-Saint-Vivant was harvested on 3 September.
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti works its vineyards according to a philosophy based on respect for the terroir, the pursuit of purity and the utmost precision at every stage. Romanée-Saint-Vivant thus expresses the full personality of its climat: a particularly seductive and delicate wine, where finesse and aromatic expression combine with perfectly balanced depth and power.
In 2018, the estate produced 12,709 bottles of Romanée-Saint-Vivant, once again highlighting the rarity of this exceptional cuvée.
