Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – Échézeaux Grand Cru 2017
The Échézeaux Grand Cru 2017 from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is a Pinot Noir of great nobility, sourced from one of the most prestigious terroirs of the Côte de Nuits. The 2017 vintage offers a particularly elegant and precise expression of Échézeaux, combining depth, freshness and finesse.
The nose reveals a complex and refined bouquet of cherry, raspberry and small black fruits, complemented by delicate floral notes, spices, forest floor and hints of stone. With aeration, the bouquet gradually gains in depth, revealing more pronounced mineral nuances and subtle notes of oak.
On the palate, the wine is full, silky and concentrated, with generous texture supported by beautiful freshness. The tannins are fine, precise and perfectly integrated, providing elegant structure and beautiful tension. The deep and vibrant fruit carries through to a long, fresh, spicy and slightly saline finish.
A remarkably distinguished Échézeaux Grand Cru, combining power, finesse and precision with great harmony. The 2017 vintage already offers a magnificent expression of the terroir, while its structure and depth allow it to develop even greater complexity with several years of ageing. The Guide Hachette describes it as a fresh, deep, complex and long wine, supported by a refined tannic structure.
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, often referred to as DRC, is one of the most prestigious and sought-after wine estates in Burgundy. Based in Vosne-Romanée, it boasts an exceptional wine heritage made up of legendary Grands Crus, including Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Grands-Échezeaux, Échezeaux and Montrachet.
Échézeaux is one of the great terroirs of the Côte de Nuits. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti cultivates several plots within the Grand Cru appellation. This terroir is particularly renowned for producing Pinot Noir that is deep, aromatic and elegant, combining great finesse with beautiful structure.
The 2017 vintage benefited from generally favourable conditions. After a spring marked by several episodes of frost, the season continued under warm and dry conditions. Rainfall at the end of August allowed the grapes to continue ripening under favourable conditions. The vintage therefore stands out for its elegant, fresh, precise and particularly well-balanced wines.
For the 2017 Échézeaux, the harvest took place on 13 and 15 September, with a production of approximately 1,289 dozen bottles. The perfectly ripe and healthy grapes enabled the estate to produce a deep and precise wine, whose tannic structure gives it excellent ageing potential.
The philosophy of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is based on a constant pursuit of purity, precision and authentic expression of each terroir. Échézeaux expresses this philosophy through a particularly seductive style, where aromatic finesse and elegance combine with remarkable depth and excellent ageing potential.
