Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – Corton Grand Cru 2017
The Corton Grand Cru 2017 from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is a great Pinot Noir sourced from the estate’s three climats on the Corton hill: Clos du Roi, Bressandes and Les Renardes. The 2017 vintage offers a particularly elegant and precise expression of the terroir, combining depth, freshness and finesse.
The nose reveals a complex and refined bouquet of red cherry, raspberry and small black fruits, complemented by delicate floral notes, subtle spices and hints of forest floor. With aeration, the bouquet gradually gains in depth, revealing mineral and subtly oaked nuances.
On the palate, the wine is full, structured and silky. The generous texture is perfectly balanced by beautiful freshness. The tannins are fine, ripe and precise, providing an elegant structure without masking the expression of the fruit. The finish is long, fresh and persistent, with beautiful fruity, spicy and mineral notes.
A highly distinguished Corton Grand Cru, combining power and finesse with remarkable harmony. The particularly well-balanced 2017 vintage already allows the precision of the terroir to shine, while offering excellent ageing potential.
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, often referred to as DRC, is one of the most prestigious and sought-after wine estates in Burgundy. Based in Vosne-Romanée, it boasts an exceptional wine heritage made up of legendary Grands Crus, including Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Grands-Échezeaux, Échezeaux and Montrachet.
In 2008, the estate began cultivating the vineyards of Domaine Prince Florent de Mérode in Aloxe-Corton under lease, representing approximately 2.27 hectares divided between the Clos du Roi, Bressandes and Les Renardes climats. The grapes from these three climats are vinified together under the Corton Grand Cru appellation.
The 2017 vintage experienced a spring marked by episodes of frost, followed by a warm and dry growing season. Despite these contrasting conditions, the grapes reached good ripeness while retaining remarkable freshness. The vintage therefore stands out for producing wines that are elegant, precise and particularly well balanced.
The style of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is based on a constant pursuit of purity, precision and terroir expression. The Corton benefits from this exacting approach and reveals a personality that is both deep, structured and elegant, with remarkable ageing potential.
