Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – Grands-Échezeaux Grand Cru 2017
The Grands-Échezeaux Grand Cru 2017 from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is a Pinot Noir of great nobility, sourced from one of the most renowned terroirs of the Côte de Nuits. The 2017 vintage produces a particularly elegant and precise wine, combining depth, finesse and freshness.
The nose reveals a complex and delicate bouquet of cherry, raspberry and small red berries, complemented by notes of violet, rose, subtle spices and forest floor. With aeration, the bouquet gains in depth, revealing nuances of liquorice, fine oak and a delicate mineral touch.
On the palate, the wine is full, silky and remarkably well balanced. The texture is dense and refined, supported by fine, perfectly integrated tannins. The fruit is precise and vibrant, carried by beautiful freshness that brings tension and length. The long, persistent finish unfolds with notes of red fruit, fine spices and mineral nuances.
A highly distinguished Grands-Échezeaux Grand Cru, perfectly illustrating Domaine de la Romanée-Conti’s pursuit of finesse, precision and depth. The 2017 vintage already offers a magnificent expression of the terroir while retaining excellent ageing potential.
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, often referred to as DRC, is one of the most prestigious and sought-after wine estates in Burgundy. Based in Vosne-Romanée, it boasts an exceptional wine heritage made up of legendary Grands Crus, including Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Grands-Échezeaux, Échezeaux and Montrachet.
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti cultivates approximately 3.53 hectares of Grands-Échezeaux, spread across several plots within this Grand Cru appellation. This terroir of the Côte de Nuits is particularly renowned for producing deep, structured and elegant Pinot Noir.
The 2017 vintage experienced a spring marked by episodes of frost, followed by a warm and dry summer. The conditions towards the end of the season allowed the grapes to reach good ripeness while retaining remarkable freshness. The wines of the vintage therefore stand out for their balance, precision and finesse.
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti’s philosophy is above all centred on purity, precision and the authentic expression of each terroir. Grands-Échezeaux embodies this philosophy through its deep, structured character, combined with great aromatic finesse and remarkable ageing potential.
