A Chinon full of character, generous and elegant, where vibrant fruit meets the finesse of the Loire Valley terroir!
In the heart of the Loire Valley, Domaine Éric Hérault presents La Pointevinière, a red Chinon that celebrates the authenticity of Cabernet Franc and the richness of an exceptional terroir. This cuvée takes its distinctive character from a specific vineyard site with a particularly favourable south-facing exposure, where abundant sunshine encourages the grapes to ripen fully and develop beautiful concentration. The clay-limestone soils, meanwhile, contribute delicate structure, a mineral backbone and beautifully refined tannins.
The 2024 vintage reveals a beautifully balanced red wine, carried by the natural freshness of Cabernet Franc. The nose opens with an inviting bouquet of ripe red berries, evoking cherry and wild strawberry, complemented by deeper notes of blackcurrant and a subtle hint of spice. With a little aeration, the wine becomes even more expressive, revealing the full personality of its grape variety through bright fruit, refreshing freshness and aromatic finesse.
On the palate, the wine is smooth and inviting from the very first sip. The fruit expresses itself with clarity and generosity, supported by lively acidity that brings energy and definition. The texture is generous without ever feeling heavy, while the elegant, well-integrated tannins provide harmonious structure. The finish lingers pleasantly, combining red fruit flavours with delicate spicy notes and a refreshing mineral touch.
La Pointevinière 2024 is a Chinon that charms with both its authenticity and its versatility at the table. It pairs beautifully with roast poultry, herb-seasoned pork tenderloin, roast beef, duck breast or a slow-cooked dish featuring mushrooms. It is equally well suited to a fine selection of artisan charcuterie and characterful cheeses.
To enjoy its full aromatic expression, serve ideally between 14 and 16°C. A little aeration before serving will allow the wine to open up and reveal the full breadth of its character.
A delicious, sincere and charming Chinon that invites you to rediscover the pleasure of Loire Valley wines: wines shaped by their terroir, made for sharing and gastronomy, where elegance takes precedence over sheer power.
The perfect companion for a memorable meal, ideal for lovers of fruity, balanced and authentic red wines!
In the heart of the Loire Valley, in the charming wine-growing village of Panzoult, just a few kilometres from Chinon, Domaine Hérault has cultivated a genuine passion for winegrowing and outstanding terroir-driven wines for several generations.
The family’s winemaking story began in 1963, when Bernard Hérault and his wife Claire settled on a mixed farming estate with just half a hectare of vines. Gradually, viticulture became the central focus of their activities, laying the foundations for an estate deeply attached to its terroir and its distinctive identity within the Loire Valley.
In 1992, their son Éric joined the family business and continued its development with ambition and determination. Together with his wife Élodie, he helped expand the vineyard while maintaining a strong commitment to quality. By carefully controlling yields, they aim to produce more concentrated grapes and wines with greater aromatic expression. Today, their son Pierre is also part of this wonderful family venture, bringing a fresh perspective while carrying forward the values of conviviality, craftsmanship and tradition passed down through the generations.
The estate now covers approximately 26 hectares of vineyards, spread across the diverse terroirs of the Chinon appellation. From the clay-limestone soils of the slopes to the gravelly terraces, each plot contributes to the diversity and distinctive character of the wines. Cabernet Franc, the emblematic grape variety behind Chinon’s red wines, expresses its full aromatic richness, natural freshness and elegance here. The estate also produces white and rosé wines, offering different interpretations of this distinctive Loire Valley terroir.
One of the estate’s remarkable features is an old tuffeau limestone quarry dating back to the 13th century. Discovered and subsequently converted into an ageing cellar and tasting venue, this historic site bears witness to the close connection between the region’s heritage and its centuries-old winemaking tradition.
Remaining true to its roots, Domaine Hérault places great importance on achieving harmony between fruit, refined tannins and the expression of the terroir. The result is a range of authentic, generous and approachable wines, crafted to be enjoyed and shared around a good table.
A family-run estate where tradition, passion and the passing down of expertise come together to create honest wines, deeply rooted in the identity of Chinon.
