Hermitage Blanc “Le Chevalier de Sterimberg” 2021 – Paul Jaboulet Aîné
100% Marsanne
This exceptional wine from the Rhône Valley pays tribute to Chevalier Henri-Gaspard de Sterimberg, who, in the 13th century, chose to settle as a hermit on the hills of Tain l’Hermitage after the Crusades. There, he built a chapel and planted the first vines, laying the foundation for the Hermitage appellation.
Made exclusively from Marsanne, this Hermitage Blanc displays a pale gold hue with brilliant reflections. Its complex nose reveals floral notes and aromas of white-fleshed fruits. On the palate, the attack is lively, supported by a beautiful, persistent acidity that extends into a long finish. The mid-palate is full and rounded, enhanced by vineyard peach aromas. The balance between richness and freshness gives this wine remarkable elegance.
The vines thrive on clay-limestone and stony soils, adding depth and complexity to this cuvée. Committed to sustainable viticulture, Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné has been cultivating this vineyard organically since 2016 and following biodynamic principles since 2018, preserving both the authenticity and exceptional quality of its wines.
