At Jaboulet, the entire vineyard is certified organic and cultivated with respect for the soil and living organisms. Viticulture is seen as a long-term endeavor, an ongoing quest to regenerate the environmental sphere, giving great terroir wines the means to reveal their full potential.
The autumn-winter 2021-2022 campaign was marked by a significant rainfall deficit, with temperatures within seasonal norms. Bud-break was rather late, but vegetative development then accelerated considerably. Flowering took place between May 15 and 31, very rapidly, under conditions of high temperatures. Most plots reached bunch closure by June 30, making this one of the three earliest vintages in the last 20 years.
Summer began with a stormy spell, giving the vines some respite. Overall, the vineyards remained healthy. Between July 1 and August 13, there were successive periods of very hot weather with no rainfall. In mid-August, the rains had a beneficial effect, allowing the vineyards to regenerate, although they did slightly increase berry size. However, the average berry weight was below normal. The vintage looks promising, with good concentration and rich aromas.
