Intense, satiny colour, very attractive, straw yellow with lots of light green highlights, beautiful brilliance and satin sheen with a thick, even body.

The bouquet is open, spontaneous, complex, expressive and wonderfully aromatic, fruity and floral, with a subtle hint of the rocky minerality of the complex, typical Riquewihr terroir, in a happy, tender, mellow harmony of ripe grapes, golden apple, pear, almond blossom, frangipani, honey and beeswax.

The palate is overwhelmed by the character and straightforwardness of this dry Riesling, just enough to awaken the palate and make you want to quench your thirst with a great, well-structured wine, with a hint of juiciness that is perfectly balanced and harmonious.

The flavour and taste on the finish are remarkable. It is currently tasting very well.
A wine for top gastronomy and for laying down for 5 to 8 years, serve at 8°C.
Sea fish, roast turbot, skate with hazelnut butter, lobster and pike with Riesling, smoked eel, veal blanquette, arctic char.

Description

It’s the Pinot Noir of white wines! Riesling is the most demanding grape variety because it is also the latest ripening. Dry and racy, it is at its best on the steepest, best exposed slopes.

At Domaine Hugel, the “Estate” appellation refers to the family’s exclusive parcel selection, comparable in quality to a Premier Cru, located in Riquewihr, in its two most famous crus. The bouquet is open, spontaneous, complex, expressive and wonderfully aromatic, fruity and floral, with a subtle hint of the rocky minerality of the complex and distinctive Riquewihr terroir.
