- Etymology : Criots : Burgundian diminutive of Chalk : very stony soil.
- Soil : Oolitic limestones of the Callovian and Bathonian (bottom of the plot) more stony and sloping than the Bâtard, it also benefits from a longer sunshine. Altitude 240 meters.
