The Vaxelaire family had long toyed with the idea of owning a vineyard, a dream they were saving for their retirement years. But as soon as they discovered Belgian wine, their destiny took a decisive turn!
Leaving Brussels, they dropped anchor at the family chateau, quickly transforming the surrounding land into a patchwork of vineyards. Their estate, nestled in the heart of the ‘Vignoulle’, an area steeped in winegrowing history, has become a haven of flourishing viticulture.
Today, the 11 hectares of vines breathe new life into the hills of yesteryear. Within this remarkable heritage, each wine takes shape and matures with the seasons: Johanniter, Muscaris, Pinotin…
These varieties, which may be unfamiliar to some, are reminiscent of Riesling, Muscat or Pinot Noir, but are distinguished by their natural resistance to devastating fungal diseases such as mildew and powdery mildew, which used to threaten harvests.
What’s more, these grape varieties are adapted to cooler climates, so there’s no need to use chemicals. In 2020, the estate proudly obtained its organic certification.
