La Demoiselle de Sociando Mallet is a wine produced from the youngest vines on the estate, and from plots whose soil type is most favorable to the production of very good Merlot. Merlot accounts for half of the blend. These vines cover some twenty hectares, and receive the same care and attention throughout the year as the rest of the vineyard.
The wine takes its name from the “demoiselle”, a species of dragonfly that lives in the Médoc. Lightness and elegance are two qualities that characterize both the wine and the insect.
Most of Sociando Mallet’s La Demoiselle is aged in vats, to preserve the freshness and fruitiness of the Merlot grape, making it easy and pleasant to drink in its early years. An ideal accompaniment to grilled meats, fish and shellfish specialties.
