The name comes from the fact that this sunny enclosure housed beehives, and the bees were once called “honey flies”. It is one of the very first vineyards acquired by Maurice Drouhin (the son of the founder) during the 1920s. With great determination, he managed to buy 41 different plots from 8 different owners. The Clos des Mouches is planted in red and white, in equal parts, it gives one of the mythical wines of the House. From 10,000 to 12,500 vines/ha planted to explore in depth the intimacy of the terroirs and reduce production by grape variety. Compliance with the former base yield, ie the current authorized yield of less than 20%. Manual harvest in small pierced crates in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit. 2 to 3 weeks of maceration and vinification in total. Aging in barrels including 20% new barrels for a period of 14 to 18 months.
