This excellent Château Desmirail presents itself with a very elegant, feminine and fragrant nose, which features a whole series of rose petals in the glass. The palate is very balanced, fleshy but structured with fine tannins. It feels a bit oaky towards the finish.
The vintage
With tumultuous skies playing with the nerves of the winemakers, the harvest at Château Desmirail began on Wednesday September 25 and lasted three weeks. Picked according to maturity, the Merlot and Cabernet grapes showed superb fruit and moderate alcohol levels. For the estate, 2019 is a year that combines both quantity and quality. This fine vintage is already shaping up to be similar to years like 59, 89 and 2009.
Desmirail, 3rd Grand Cru Classé in 1855, is the fruit of the Margaux appellation’s exceptional terroir, perfectly illustrated by its elegance and finesse. Its modern winemaking techniques, combined with a respect for tradition, make this a wine that is both enjoyable in its youth and a great wine for laying down. Château Desmirail is the result of a strict selection process and careful ageing.
