An intense, racy 1er cru classé and cru classé de Graves
Château Haut-Brion is one of the 1er crus classés of 1855 and also a cru classé de Graves. In this vintage, spring 2018 was marked by regular rainstorms. June was mild, allowing even flowering. A hot summer followed, with little rainfall. The veraison took place in very good conditions. In September, the anticyclone moved in. We harvested in glorious sunshine, with all grape varieties picked at perfect ripeness and health. In the end, the 49.4% Merlot, 10.9% Cabernet Franc and 38.7% Cabernet Sauvignon that make up the Haut-Brion 2018 blend were picked between September 6 and October 2.
Tasting notes:
Intense, dark red color. The first nose is deep, spicy, ripe black fruit, incredibly complex. The attack is mellow and quickly ripe. Then the wine evolves, full-bodied, with a tannic structure that is always coated. The volume is impressive. The finish is incredibly long, with no harshness, no heaviness, rich in flavor. Undeniably, a great Haut-Brion!
