“Displaying a dedication to its ancient vines and unique terroir, this 20-year-old Tawny from Quinta Bom Retiro is generous and contemplative. The fusion of fruit and oak aromas is well balanced with dried apricot, raisins and honey, mingling with notes of cinnamon, burnt sugar and Madagascar vanilla. On the palate, it’s fresh, and a nutty richness is given to caramel, gingerbread, raisins, rum and Christmas spices. The finish seems to last a solid 5 minutes.”

Description

This Port is produced from a selection of several harvests from one of the Douro region’s oldest vineyards, the “Quinta do Bom Retiro”. It is made from wines from different harvests. While blending is easy when the wines are young, it becomes increasingly difficult as they age. To achieve perfect, long-lasting harmony, it takes a great deal of skill and careful blending of the two components.
