La Coume Del Mas is located in the hamlet of Cosprons between Port Vendres and Banyuls. It is led by Philippe Gard, an agricultural engineer who first worked at the Auxerre chamber of agriculture, then at that of Bordeaux. The estate now has 14 hectares spread over 32 plots scattered over the municipalities of Banyuls and Collioure. This vineyard, due to its relief, its subsoil, and its geographical location, is one of the last original witnesses of this heroic mountain viticulture. While some of the plots culminate at almost 380 meters above sea level, others, on the other hand, plunge into the Mediterranean. But, all without exception, exhibit sometimes vertiginous gradients, making mechanization impossible and human intervention decisive.
Beyond the strict application of a viticultural and oenological process, the choice to produce a particular wine necessarily involves taking risks, where expertise, knowledge and observation of the intimate relationships between the vine and its environment are essential. From this encounter is born a precious wine, the result of the fusion between man and his environment. Each cuvée is a bit the fruit of this journey, where through the vintages, Nathalie and Philippe Gard try to discover some ephemeral pieces of truth. Each bottle is a reflection of this adventure, of the work of all those who accompany them, guided by respect for the terroir and the search for sustainable agriculture that respects their values. Each wine comes from a selection of unique plots. Some cuvées are produced in small quantities and their availability may vary throughout the year.
