The sweetness and freshness of this Rosé 2017 are the result of this “infusion” that has concentrated the best of Cumières’ Pinot Noirs.
An immediate bouquet of forest fruits (wild strawberries and raspberries) and citrus (blood orange), with a few tart, powdery notes reminiscent of petals (rose macaroon). On aeration, citrus fruits give way to iodine and chocolate nuances, with spicy and resinous (cedar) hints. The palate is caressing, delicious, delicate and elegant. Sensation of a silky texture evaporating delicately to leave room for a cloud of delicate, slightly spicy perfumes. The fruitiness is concentrated in the mid-palate, almost liqueur-like, and energized by fresh, iodized flavors. On the finish, gourmet chocolate nuances combine with chalky freshness to create a long, pure, saline impression.
MILLESIME
The year of all dangers… an exceptionally hot, dry winter and spring, marked by intense frosts from April 17 to 29, with a sad record 12 nights of frost. This was followed by a gloomy, wet and not particularly hot summer, which ended with a quasi-tropical (wet and hot) end to August, favoring a significant progression of grey rot on the ripening Pinot Noirs and Meuniers. All in all, an accelerated, ultra-fast harvest, combined with a demanding, precise and methodical selection process, unprecedented for our company.
