The Réserve de Famille 2022 from Château Martet is a generous and elegant red wine from the Sainte-Foy Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. Located east of Bordeaux, the estate benefits from a clay-limestone terroir particularly well suited to producing wines that combine richness, structure and freshness.

The nose opens with ripe black fruits, blackberry and plum, complemented by spicy and subtly toasted notes. On the palate, the wine is full and silky, with well-integrated tannins and lovely freshness that brings balance to the whole. The finish is long, fruity and subtly spicy.

Presented here in a 1.5-litre magnum, the Réserve de Famille is an ideal format for festive meals and harmonious ageing in the cellar. A convivial yet characterful wine, perfect with a fine cut of beef, roast lamb, game or mature cheeses.

Château Martet

Perched on a hillside overlooking the Dordogne, in the heart of the Sainte-Foy Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, Château Martet benefits from an exceptional terroir and a history dating back to Roman times. The estate, built in the 13th century, was once a hospitable house of the Knights Templar, welcoming pilgrims travelling to Santiago de Compostela.

Acquired in 1991 by Patrick de Coninck and Albert Michiels, the estate gradually regained its former prestige thanks to extensive work to restructure and restore the vineyard. Today, Patrick de Coninck’s children continue this family story, establishing Château Martet as one of the emblematic estates of the appellation.

The vineyard covers 33 hectares, with soils composed notably of clay, limestone and iron-rich gravel. Particular attention is paid to preserving biodiversity and respecting the environment, with no use of pesticides or chemical fertilisers.

Among the estate’s flagship wines, La Réserve de Famille holds a special place. This 100% Merlot cuvée, produced and vinified by Nina Mitjavile, is aged for 18 months in new oak barrels and has established itself as a true benchmark of the Sainte-Foy Côtes de Bordeaux appellation.
