For Collection, Louis Roederer pushed the art of parcel selection even further in order to choose, at the heart of the Champagne terroir, and with a priority for sustainable viticultural practices, parcels perfectly adapted to the identity of the new wine and the more apt to match the specific blend of the year.
Each bunch entering into the composition of the Collection is subject to rigorous selection both upstream – on the plot – and at the time of harvest and pressing, so as to concentrate only excellence.
The creation of the Collection is also marked by the establishment of a “Perpetual Reserve” started with the 2012 vintage, enriched each year with the latest harvest and kept, protected from oxygen, in large capacity stainless steel vats. . Over the years, this Perpetual Reserve will be enriched with new wines from each new harvest to form an infinite matrix of complexity, freshness and energy.
At the same time, Roederer has greatly increased the proportion of oak reserve wines in the blends. These wines from previous years and young plots of the Cristal estate, aged in French oak barrels, are the signature of the House. They judiciously balance the freshness brought by the Perpetual Reserve, give intensity and sharpen the salinity of the blend.
Collection thus gains in modernity, in complexity, adorning itself with all the virtues of a very great champagne.
… freely
Each Collection blend thus has its own identity which will reveal itself even more clearly over time.
