The expression of the Bolgheri terroir in a great red wine from Tuscany
Emblematic cru of the Tenuta Guado al Tasso, property of the prestigious Maison Antinori, Guado al Tasso is one of the greatest “Super-Tuscans”.
Located about 80 kilometers southwest of Florence near the medieval village of Bolgheri in the Maremma region of Tuscany in Italy, the Tenuta Guado al Tasso enjoys an ideal location, in the heart of the famous Bolgheri Superiore DOC appellation.
In a blend that brings together Cabernet Sauvignon (57%), Merlot (25%), Cabernet Franc (15%) and a touch of Petit Verdot (3%), Guado al Tasso transcribes the elegance and complexity of the terroir of the DOC Bolgheri Superiore.
After undergoing two successive selections, the rigorously selected berries were vinified separately, respecting the origin of each plot. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks before the wine undergoes its complete malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. Guado al Tasso was then aged in French oak barrels for a period of 12 months. Once the final blend has been made, Guado al Tasso benefits from further aging in barrels for 6 months before bottling.
Intensely aromatic, Guado al Tasso marvelously expresses all the typicality of each of the grape varieties used in its blend. The bouquet reveals delicious notes of black fruits and spices. On the palate, Guado al Tasso wraps the palate in a succession of gourmet sensations revealing the sapid generosity of the wine, deliciously structured by the richness of the Merlot frame while the Cabernet Franc brings balance and tannins on spicy notes reminiscent of the imprint of Petit Verdot.
Powerful, concentrated and elegant, Guado al Tasso displays the class of the greatest Bolgheri in a vintage destined for a superb evolution in the bottle.
